Mr. Joyce has been tutoring and mentoring students for over 20 years. He earned his B.S. in Bioengineering in 2002 from Syracuse University, where, as a freshman, he began working as a peer tutor in Calculus. He later graduated with his MBA in 2013. In 2022, Mr. Joyce also earned a graduate certificate from Cornell University.
After his initial tutoring days at Syracuse University, Mr. Joyce taught algebra I, algebra II/trigonometry, geometry, and precalculus at a private high school in Pennsylvania and has continued to tutor students at the junior high, high school, and college levels. He specializes in all sections of the SAT and ACT exam, as well as the SHSAT. Mr. Joyce has also worked with students in subjects that include (but are not limited to) pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II/trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, probability and statistics, writing and grammar, English Literature, AP Language and Composition, finance, accounting, general business, microeconomics, macroeconomics, psychology, physics, chemistry, biology, and nutrition/food science.
As a test preparation instructor, Mr. Joyce sets goals for each of his students and optimizes achievement by helping students leverage their strengths and master their weaknesses. Overall, Mr. Joyce has worked with over 1,000 students in person and online and has tutored and/or mentored a student in every continent in the world apart from Antarctica.
Outside of tutoring, Mr. Joyce enjoys helping others and his community. He served as an elected official in Scranton, Pennsylvania as the Vice-President and Finance Chair of Scranton’s City Council. He was a former President of the Greater Scranton Junior Chamber of Commerce for 4 years, tied for the longest tenure in the history of the organization and has won a national award as the Most Outstanding New Member in the United States among all Junior Chamber of Commerce chapters in America. He also was a national trainer for the organization. In college, he was an NCAA Division 1 athlete in football and has since become a member of the Professional Bowlers Association.
Mr. Joyce resides in New York with his wife and two children.
