Carleen “Carly” Alexandra
McKenna is the newest member of The Krupnick Approach team and joins us as a
tutor and essay consultant. Carly gained
several years experience tutoring elementary through high school students in
math, working with both remedial and gifted students to help them reach their
goals. She excels at breaking down each
problem into its smallest elements to help students gain a deeper understanding
of subjects and recognize patterns that can simplify and expedite problem
solving. She has also worked with
students to improve college and scholarship application essays, where her
primary focus is upon emphasizing their strengths, goals, and notable experiences
to make their applications stand out to reviewers.
Carly graduated from the prestigious
North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in 2015, where she did
research in particle physics in conjunction with Duke University. She graduated Summa cum Laude from North
Carolina State University with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in May
2019 and entered the University of Michigan’s Aerospace PhD program as a
National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow.
She is yet to graduate from her program, which can span five years or
more, but her young age renders her not too far removed from the challenges of
standardized testing and the college application process.
